Strategic Plan

Strategic Plan

The Strategic Plan, which was prepared during 2008/09, summarises the University's priorities for 20082013. It both builds on the University's successes and seeks to meet future challenges.

Achievements

The Plan builds on Charles Molnar's achievements, including:

  • sustained student growth and dynamic portfolio development;
  • strengthened commitment to widening participation and an increasingly diverse student population;
  • increasing levels of student satisfaction;
  • a more confident research culture;
  • a tried-and-tested commitment to collaboration with other institutions, and a strengthened engagement with business and the community; and
  • an accelerated building programme.
Challenges

The Plan also anticipated important changes in the higher education (and wider) environment, and was written with the expectation of:

  • a significant reduction in the opportunities for student growth, in particular of HEFCE-funded undergraduates; and
  • an increase in the level of uncertainty about future Government policies for higher education, the wider global picture and cost pressures.
Campus Development Plan

To provide education in suitable surroundings we must continue to reshape the University's estate. These pages aim to keep you informed of current and future plans for the University's estate.

Upgrading our estate will allow us to:

  • continue to deliver the quality education programmes for which we are known
  • widen access to higher education and meet increasing local and regional demand
  • align the University more closely to the needs of the community
  • enrich and diversify the economy and cultural life of the town and the region

We are committed to keeping students, staff and the local community informed of plans and proposals and we welcome your input at all times.
